Rehabilitation of Neurological Illness and Injury Core

The Rehabilitation of Neurological Illness and Injury Core conducts advanced scientific research and training relating to persons with brain injury, spinal cord injury and other forms of trauma that have a major effect on the central nervous system. The cores research programs focus on a variety of topics including functional, medical and neurobehavioral outcome studies; family adjustment; and developing new researchers while enhancing the skills of those with more experience. Important allies assisting this core in accomplishing its mission include VCUs Rehabilitation and Research Center, the departments of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Rehabilitation Counseling, and Neurosurgery, as well as the Woodrow Wilson Rehabilitation Center (Fishersville).
